Squash

At The San Francisco Bay Club we have five international ASB squash courts and an estimated 750 squash-playing members. It's no wonder the game is so popular—squash is a great sport that's both easy to learn and fun to play. It's great exercise too, providing a complete workout in just 45 minutes. Extended rallies and almost constant running builds cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength in the lower body, while lunges, twists, and turns increase flexibility in your back and abdomen.

We encourage you to get involved with the Club's squash program. Explore our Web site and discover all that we have to offer you, including

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I learn the rules?

Your membership includes a group introductory class with one of our professionals. Use this to learn the basics and to meet some other beginners to start playing with. Then sign up for the Beginners Squash Group Lessons with Dominique or purchase a five-session package of private lessons.

What equipment do I need?

Non-marking shoes, a squash racket, and a single yellow dot squash ball. While not mandatory for non-tournament play, protective eyewear is strongly recommended. All are available for purchase at The Shop. And, if you're trying the game out for the first time, demo racquets are available at The Shop for a nominal fee.

How do I know what my level is?

If you are playing for the first time, then you are likely to be a D-Novice. However, athletes and good tennis and/or racquetball players have transferable skills and are often able to start at a higher level (C or even B). If you are not sure, it's better to start low and work your way up.

How do I book a court?

Our Web site provides Club members multiple opportunities to make an online court reservation. You'll find a link right on the homepage, above (on this page), and the Reservations page. These links will take you to Xpiron, our online court reservation system. Just click on the link for First Time User and follow the instructions to log in and book a court. Courts can be booked up to two days in advance, starting at 8:30 am. You may also book courts by calling the front desk at 415.433.2550.

How do I register for a lesson or a clinic?

E-mail us at squashadmin@sfbayclub.com or call our squash administration line at 415.901.9337.

How do I keep current with what’s happening in the Squash Department?

We continually update our Web site calendar and online reservation system to keep you fully informed of upcoming squash events. The Squash Department also e-mails monthly updates to all interested players. If you would like to receive these monthly updates, contact us at squashadmin@sfbayclub.com.

Information regarding tournaments and events may be found on our Web site, and at our Squash Activity Center located by next to Court No. 3. Should you have any other questions regarding the squash program, please contact our squash administrative assistant at squashadmin@sfbayclub.com.
