Coaches

Robert Young, Director

Bob began his career at Western Athletic Clubs (the parent company of The Bay Club) managing the Sports Desk at Seattle Athletic Club - Downtown. He migrated south in 2001 to help open Bay Club Marin. And one year later, he transferred to The San Francisco Bay Club to work in the Membership Sales Department. Currently he leads the Club's athletic programs, including Aquatics.

Bob has worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years. He has trained to compete in Olympic trials and has also trained clients for the Olympics. He feels fortunate in his 22 years as a coach to have worked with swimmers, gymnasts, runners, triathletes, and adventure racers. He believes that fitness workouts should be part of your daily living, just like breathing. And he says, "It's something you love to do; it's something just for you. We have challenges in our life and fitness should be a positive challenge." Staying true to his heart and desire, he continues to challenge himself and encourages his clients to "never stop doing."

Reid Evans, Swim Coach

Reid is a 2004 graduate of Columbia University, where he played an integral part on the Columbia swim team. In his freshman year, he placed third in the 100-yard backstroke at the Eastern Atlantic Conference and set a school record for the 200-yard backstroke. In his sophomore year, he won the 100-yard backstroke and became the only swimmer from Columbia to win an event at the Conference. During his senior year, he served as the captain of the varsity swim team and led the team to its most successful season in over a decade.

Reid's other swimming accomplishments include competing in the 2000 Olympic trials and establishing various local and national swimming records from Texas and New York to the western United States. Reid also enjoys open water swimming. In 2002 he placed second in his age group at the Little Red Lighthouse 7.9-mile swim in the Hudson River. He also placed third in the 2004 Alcatraz Challenge. In addition to swimming and coaching, Reid enjoys making art, reading, writing, and sailing. He plans to learn how to surf, too.
